Zachary Geddis Trust Launches ‘Alternative Xmaz’ Campaign for Mental Health Support
The Zachary Geddis Trust Launches Annual ‘Alternative Xmaz’ Campaign
The Zachary Geddis Trust has started its annual ‘Alternative Xmaz’ Campaign. This initiative aims to support those facing mental health challenges during the holiday season.
This year, the campaign emphasizes the importance of not spending Christmas in crisis. The Trust encourages individuals to reach out for help through its crisis helpline.
From December 20 to January 20, the Christmas crisis service will offer supportive calls, including befriending and counseling. Yasmin Geddis, CEO of the Zachary Geddis Trust, expressed the need for this service: “Since we started in 2017, we’ve recognized that Christmas can be difficult for many.”
The Trust’s crisis line will be staffed by qualified counselors who understand the local community. They will provide consistent support, allowing clients to speak to the same person each time.
“Though this service starts with a phone call, individuals can later become regular clients and access face-to-face sessions after the holiday period,” continued Geddis. “We are committed to positive mental health in our community year-round.”
Services will be available daily from 8 AM to 10 PM. Clients can request a call-back outside these hours between 10 PM and 8 AM.
To access this service, contact 028 7044 0123 or email info@zgbtst.org.
The Zachary Geddis Trust is a non-profit organization focused on mental health awareness and reducing the stigma around suicide. Located on Northern Ireland’s North Coast, the Trust supports over 200 individuals weekly.
Each crisis call costs £15, and donations to help support this essential service can be made at this link.
