Zachary Geddis Trust’s ‘Alternative Xmaz’ Campaign Supports Mental Health During Festive Season
Zachary Geddis Trust Launches ‘Alternative Xmaz’ Campaign
The Zachary Geddis Trust has started its annual ‘Alternative Xmaz’ Campaign. This initiative aims to support individuals facing mental health challenges during the holiday season.
This year, the campaign encourages people to avoid a festive crisis. It offers support through the Zachary Geddis Trust crisis helpline. The service runs from December 20 to January 20, providing counseling and befriending calls.
Yasmin Geddis, CEO of the Trust, stated, “Since 2017, we have recognized that Christmas is not joyful for everyone.” The crisis service is aimed at residents of the Causeway Coast and Glens area who may experience despair during the holidays.
Qualified local counselors manage the Christmas crisis line, ensuring ongoing support for those in need. Individuals will be assigned a counselor to maintain a consistent line of communication throughout this period. Once the crisis period ends, individuals can transition to regular 1:1 sessions for face-to-face support.
Due to budget limitations, the service is available daily from 8 AM to 10 PM. Clients can register for callbacks outside these hours, and a counselor will respond as soon as possible.
