Zamalek’s New Coach Gross too Begin While Contract Signing Delayed

cairo, Egypt ‍ – Zamalek Sporting⁣ Club announced⁢ a delay⁣ in⁣ finalizing the contract signing with new head coach Christian⁣ Gross. The ⁣Swiss tactician, set to replace ‍outgoing portuguese coach Jose Gomez, ⁣was expected ⁤to complete the deal ‌immediately.

Instead, club officials cited chairman Hussein Labib and star player Ahmed Mustafa “Zizo”’s trip to Morocco as the cause for postponement. The delegation will attend the prestigious‍ CAF⁣ Awards ceremony. ‍Zamalek anticipates finalizing the contract upon their return.

Despite the delay, Gross is scheduled to lead his first training session today, Monday, preparing the team ‍for their ⁤upcoming‌ league match against Ceramica.

Gross was chosen as the preferred candidate over contenders like Brazilian Rogero Michael. His appointment follows Gomez’s departure to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

We spoke to Karim Hassan, a football⁢ analyst ‌specializing in Egyptian football, about the ⁤situation:

ND: Mr. Hassan, Zamalek announcing⁤ a delay in finalizing⁣ Gross’ contract despite him starting training ⁣today seems unusual. What are your thoughts?

KH: It is indeed unusual. This highlights the sometimes chaotic nature of ⁤football club management. It’s likely a formality more than anything else, perhaps some clauses ‌needing ⁤finalization. The⁢ fact Gross is already leading training shows Zamalek is keen to have ⁣him settled quickly.

ND: do you think this delay will have any impact on gross’s start at Zamalek?

KH: I don’t ‌believe so.⁤ His ‍priority right now is getting to know ‌the players and implementing his‍ training methods. The contract details can be ironed‌ out⁣ later. This delay is unlikely ‌to affect his focus on the ⁤upcoming match against Ceramica.

ND: Zamalek chose Gross over other candidates. What do you see him bringing to the team?

KH: Gross brings a wealth of experience managing teams in diffrent leagues, including in Africa. He’s known for ⁢his tactical discipline and ability to get⁢ the best out ‌of‌ his players. ⁢Zamalek needs stability and a clear direction, which Gross hopefully can provide. However, only time will tell how accomplished his tenure will be.
