What Happened?

Heavy rainfall in the afternoon and evening significantly impacted⁢ several Zapopan colonies,with Martinica being the most severely affected. The storm began around 7:00 p.m. local time, leading to rapid flooding.

In Martinica, water levels reached up to five meters deep, necessitating intervention from civil Protection authorities. A total of 96 ‍people (78 adults and the remainder minors) and one canine have been rescued as of the latest reports.

Civil Protection Coordinator Mario Alberto Espinosa reported that the volume of water exceeded the capacity of the existing ⁤drainage basin. One ⁤person sustained injuries and received treatment from Cruz Verde and Red cross personnel, ⁣but thankfully, no critical injuries have been reported.

Reports also indicate gas leaks and flooding in surrounding colonies.

Impact and Affected Areas

Beyond Martinica, other Zapopan⁤ colonies including Arroyo Hondo and Lomas de Tabachines also experienced flooding. The extent of damage in these areas is still being assessed.
