Protesters in the unrecognized Republic of Abkhazia continue to occupy a government building. They demand the cancellation of an investment agreement with Russia and the resignation of President Aslan Bzhaniya. They rejected his proposal for early elections.

Georgia’s Central Election Commission confirmed the ruling party “Georgian Dream” won the parliamentary elections. The opposition claims the October 26 elections were unfair. Hundreds of opposition supporters protested outside the Central Election Commission building today.
Typhoon Approaches the Philippines
Approximately 25,000 people have evacuated as a typhoon approaches the Philippines. This will be the sixth major storm to hit the country this month. In previous storms, at least 163 people have died, and thousands have lost their homes, with crops and livestock also affected.
Crackdown on Illegal Fishing in Latvia
In October and November, salmon and trout migrate and spawn in Latvian rivers. Fishing is prohibited during this time, but illegal fishing continues. Authorities have found 127 illegal fishing gear in the rivers, with most violations reported in Palsas and Amata. The fish spawning period will continue until the end of the month.
Composer Romualds Kalsons Passes Away
Composer Romualds Kalsons passed away at the age of 88 on November 15. Kalsons was also a conductor and pianist, and he taught many contemporary composers. He received the Great Music Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award in music. Farewell ceremonies will be held on November 22 at 11:30 a.m. in the Church of the Painful Virgin.
