In February 2024, General Drapati was appointed as the deputy chief of the General Staff for military training. By May 2024, he became the commander of the Kharkiv operational-tactical group, and later led the Luhansk operational-tactical group. Drapati has taken part in the war in Donbas, starting his military career as the commander of the 2nd Battalion of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade.
Colonel Apostol has been involved in combat operations in Eastern Ukraine since 2014. After the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion, he participated in liberating towns in Mykolaiv region, destroying and seizing enemy equipment. Since late 2022, his units have conducted successful defensive and assault operations in Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Luhansk regions. He has been the commander of the 95th Air Assault Brigade since February 2024 and has taken part in operations of Ukrainian defensive forces in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation since August 2024.
