Zelensky: Ukraine Ready to Negotiate Peace

Trump-Zelenskyy‌ Relations strained After‍ Heated Oval Office Exchange

Kyiv, Ukraine – ⁣The relationship between the United states and⁣ Ukraine appears⁣ increasingly strained following a tense⁢ meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President ⁣Volodymyr zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy⁢ Voices ‍Regret Over Contentious Meeting

President Volodymyr⁣ Zelenskyy has ⁣expressed his disappointment regarding his recent⁢ Oval Office meeting with President ‍Donald Trump.‍ He described the fiery exchange ⁣as “regrettable,” emphasizing ukraines readiness to engage in negotiations to‍ end the ongoing ‌conflict. The meeting, intended to foster cooperation, rather highlighted the growing tensions between the two nations.

Zelenskyy took to X to address ⁢the situation directly,‌ stating, “I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace.” ⁢However, the⁣ meeting reportedly involved Trump ⁤and Vice President JD vance berating Zelenskyy, accusing him⁢ of “gambling with World war Three” and warning him, “your country ‍is in big trouble.”

In his Tuesday X post, Zelenskyy elaborated, “Our meeting in Washington, at⁤ the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It ⁢is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and interaction to be constructive.”

Ukraine Seeks Peaceful ⁤Resolution Amidst Tensions

Despite⁤ the ⁤strained relations, Zelenskyy remains committed to finding ‍a ‌peaceful resolution to the conflict. He⁢ stated,⁤ “None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as ‌possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that ‍lasts.”

Western leaders are hopeful ⁣that Zelenskyy’s statement will help ease tensions between Kyiv and⁤ the White House. However, the “disastrous Oval Office meeting” has underscored the‌ extent to which the relationship has deteriorated.

Minerals Deal and Ceasefire Proposals

Zelenskyy also addressed the stalled minerals deal, stating ‌that Ukraine is ready to sign it “in any time and in any convenient format.” He emphasized, ”Regarding the ⁤agreement on minerals and security, ukraine is ready⁣ to sign it in⁣ any ⁢time and in any convenient format. ⁤we ⁤see ‌this agreement⁣ as a step toward ‍greater security and solid security‍ guarantees, and I truly hope it ⁤will work effectively.” The⁢ deal was initially scheduled for Friday ‍but was disrupted by the heated argument.

Moreover, Zelenskyy ‍outlined ⁢a potential⁤ framework for a ceasefire, suggesting, “We are ready to⁣ work fast to end the war, and the first stages⁤ could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky — ban⁣ on missiles, ⁣long-ranged drones, bombs on‌ energy and ⁤other civilian infrastructure — and truce in ⁣the⁢ sea immediately, if Russia will do the same. Then we want to move very fast through all next stages⁤ and to work‌ with the US to agree a strong final deal.”

This⁤ framework bears similarities to ⁤a plan proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron following a summit‌ of Western leaders in London, reflecting growing anxiety about Ukraine’s future.

Trump Pauses ⁣Military aid to Ukraine

Adding to the complexity of the situation, President Trump has ordered a pause on ⁣shipments of US military aid to Ukraine. This decision, made after a series of meetings with top national⁤ security officials, could significantly ⁢impact Ukraine’s⁢ ability‌ to defend⁣ itself. The aid will remain on hold‌ until Trump determines that Zelenskyy is committed to seeking peace talks, effectively pressuring Ukraine to ⁢negotiate by threatening further losses.

“We do really value‍ how⁣ much America has done to help Ukraine maintain ⁣its sovereignty ‍and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine⁣ with Javelins. We are⁤ grateful for this,” Zelensky ⁢added, highlighting⁣ past cooperation.

It remains to be seen ⁤how Trump will respond to Zelenskyy’s proposals and reflections on the‍ White House visit. However, Kyiv’s statement indicates a clear effort to assert its voice in discussions about the conflict’s⁣ future, particularly after the Trump governance initiated talks with Russia without Ukraine’s ⁢involvement.
