Zelensky Seeks Continued US-Europe Unity in Ukraine Support
BRUSSELS – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Brussels Thursday, emphasizing the crucial need for continued unity between the United States adn Europe in supporting Ukraine’s resistance against the Russian invasion.
Speaking to reporters alongside European Council President António Costa, Zelensky acknowledged the vital role of US assistance. “It would be very difficult to maintain support for Ukraine without the contribution of our main military partner,” he stated. “We need to count on the unity between the United States and Europe.It’s very difficult to support Ukraine without US aid, and that’s what we will discuss wiht President Trump when he is in the White House.”
Zelensky’s visit to Brussels comes amidst ongoing concerns about the future of US support for Ukraine, particularly with the upcoming presidential election.
The Ukrainian leader outlined key issues to be addressed during the European Council meeting, including the protection of Ukraine’s energy sector, specifically its power plants and gas reserves, which have been targeted in recent Russian airstrikes.
