President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is prepared to accept a peace agreement involving the immediate freezing of the war along the current frontline. Speaking in an interview with ABC News, the Ukrainian leader emphasized a willingness to halt the conflict as quickly as possible, while setting strict limits on territorial concessions and rejecting any formal recognition of occupied land as Russian.
Frontline Freeze Terms Set by Zelenskyy
Zelenskyy rejected proposals suggesting that Ukraine surrender 25 percent of its territory to secure a deal. When someone talks about 25%, this means that we have to give up the entire Donbas, it will mean that they (the Russians) will control 25%,
the president said, noting that Russian forces currently control 19.3 percent of Ukrainian territory.
Disputed Status of Occupied Regions
In the same interview, Zelenskyy addressed external proposals concerning sovereignty over captured land. We will not agree – I have heard such proposals – to recognize temporarily occupied territory as Russian,
he stated. The statements follow high-level diplomatic contacts, including a three-hour meeting in Saint Petersburg on October 21 between Vladimir Putin and Steve Witkoff, special representative of US President Donald Trump. Witkoff had met with Zelenskyy and leaders of Norway and Finland in Oslo just prior to the Russian talks, where Putin informed Witkoff that Moscow is prepared to resume tripartite talks in the US – Ukraine – Russia format in the 10th days of November.
Military Supplies and Operational Restrictions
Alongside diplomatic positioning, Zelenskyy detailed ongoing military constraints and supply figures during his discussion with ABC News. The president confirmed restrictions on Starlink satellite terminals remain in effect. Additionally, Ukraine received 24 Patriot missiles from its strategic partner over the preceding 90 days.
Yes, we are ready to stop this war as soon as possible. Freeze the conflict on the front lines right now
Volodymyr Zelenskyy
The diplomatic track remains open ahead of proposed November talks.
