Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy lauded a recent drone strike​ deep inside Russia as a “brilliant result” and a ‌pivotal moment in the ongoing conflict.The operation, planned over 18 months, targeted multiple Russian military airfields.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) claimed the attack,​ which‍ it⁣ says was executed entirely by Ukrainian forces,‌ destroyed over 40 aircraft, including bombers and ‍surveillance planes.the SBU ‍called it the moast ​extensive strike on Russian soil ⁢to date.

Zelenskyy took to social media​ platform X to express his gratitude.‌ He thanked General Vasyl Maliuk, head of ⁣the SBU, stating ​that the mission woudl be ‍remembered as ⁢a defining moment in the war and would be recorded in⁣ history books.

Reportedly dubbed “Operation Spider web,” ⁢the mission allegedly destroyed 41 Russian⁣ aircraft, including Tupolev ‍Tu-95 and Tu-22M​ strategic ‍bombers, often used⁤ in missile attacks against Ukraine. The ⁢strike also targeted the A-50, an⁣ airborne early warning ‌system crucial⁢ for‍ coordinating missile strikes.
