Zhao Xintong’s Bold Comeback: Ready to Conquer Rivals at UK Championship
Zhao Xintong is ready to return to major snooker competitions at the UK Championship. The 27-year-old has been back in competitive play since September after a 20-month ban for involvement in a match-fixing scandal. Although he did not fix any matches himself, he was penalized for being associated with another player’s actions and for placing illegal bets.
Zhao quickly made an impact on the Q Tour events, defeating Sunny Akani, Jiang Jun, Noppon Saengkham, and Ricky Walkden to qualify for the upcoming UK Championship starting in York.
Once ranked sixth in the world, Zhao has two ranking titles, including the UK Championship in 2021. He now aims to remind his competitors of his talent. He declared, “I believe if I play well I can beat anybody. I’ll try my best.”
Zhao reflected on his past mistakes. He stated, “Two years ago, I made a little mistake and now I’m back. I know how important snooker is for me. I want to come back to the snooker table and get trophies.” He emphasized the importance of learning from his experience and appreciated the game more than before. He advised others to avoid mistakes, noting how pressure led him to wrong decisions.
