Zhou Tingqing Conquers Taipei Marathon, Sets New Personal Best
Taipei, Taiwan – “Yin Emperor” Zhou Tingqing dominated the 2024 Taipei Marathon, securing the domestic men’s marathon championship with a personal best time of 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 17 seconds. Xie Qianhe claimed victory in the women’s division, clocking in at 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 12 seconds.
This year marked a meaningful milestone for the Taipei Marathon, as it was elevated to a Gold Label event by World athletics, the sport’s governing body. The upgrade brought improvements to the course route and aid stations, earning praise from athletes.
Zhou Tingqing, who shaved nearly two minutes off his previous personal best, expressed satisfaction with the race’s organization. “The separation between the full marathon and half marathon runners was clearer, and there were fewer sharp turns at the aid stations,” he noted. “This year’s race was much smoother compared to last year.”
Despite facing challenges in his training leading up to the event, Zhou tingqing was thrilled to achieve a new personal best. “Breaking my PB is a great feeling, even though I believe I could have done even better,” he saeid. “Ending the season with this result is a perfect way to wrap things up.”
Xie Qianhe, who juggles coaching duties with her own training, overcame a minor injury to claim victory in the women’s race. “I knew I had a chance to win,” she shared, recounting a pivotal moment during the race. “Around the 40-kilometer mark, I saw the lead car and decided to chase it down.”
The 2024 Taipei Marathon showcased the city’s commitment to hosting world-class sporting events, attracting top athletes and providing a platform for local runners to shine.

Also,there were fewer sharp turns at the aid stations,making it easier to maintain momentum. the race felt much smoother compared to last year.

Zhou Tingqing: My training leading into this event faced some challenges, so I feel there’s still room for enhancement in terms of my overall preparation. I’m always striving to push my limits and refine my strategies.
