Taipei, Taiwan – ⁣ “Yin Emperor” Zhou Tingqing⁢ dominated the 2024 Taipei ⁤Marathon, securing the ⁢domestic men’s marathon championship with a personal best time of 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 17 seconds. Xie Qianhe claimed victory in the women’s division, clocking in at 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 12 seconds.

This year marked a meaningful milestone for the Taipei Marathon, as it was elevated to a Gold Label event by World athletics, the ⁢sport’s governing body. The upgrade brought improvements to the ⁤course route and aid stations, earning praise from athletes.

Zhou Tingqing, who shaved nearly two minutes off his previous personal best, expressed satisfaction with the race’s ⁤organization. “The separation between the full⁣ marathon and half marathon runners was clearer, and there were fewer sharp turns at the aid stations,” he noted. “This year’s race was much smoother ⁢compared to last year.”
