Zoom has announced the NEURIG, a neural amp and effects modeler that combines cloud connectivity, artificial intelligence tools, and proprietary modeling technology.
DNA Engine Modeling and NAM Compatibility
The DNA Engine is built to reproduce the sonic shifts triggered by user controls, aiming to preserve dynamic interaction rather than offering a frozen snapshot of an instrument’s sound. The NEURIG ships with 30 DNA models spanning combo amplifiers, amplifier heads, and overdrive or distortion pedals. Alongside these, the hardware includes 22 traditional amplifier models and 139 effects, covering drives, modulations, delays, and reverbs.
Native compatibility with NAM A2 Lite allows users to load third-party captures of amps, pedals, and other gear. Guitarists can access the TONE3000 library through the SessionZ Pedal app to browse more than 700,000 NAM captures and impulse responses, importing files without charge. For cabinet simulation, the unit provides 22 multilayer IRs—each combining three captures recorded at different volume levels. Users can also configure microphone types and positions, or load up to 50 third-party IRs at a maximum resolution of 2,048 samples.
Hardware Supports 14 Effect Blocks and 200 Presets
The unit supports up to 14 simultaneous effect blocks with series, parallel, or split routing. A dedicated RIG function organizes these settings for fast transitions during performances, storing up to 200 RIG presets. Out of the box, the device comes with 75 factory configurations yielding 300 preset sounds, and each RIG assigns four sounds directly to the hardware footswitches.
Zoom designed the preset switching to occur without audio dropouts, preserving delay and reverb tails. The physical interface features two 2-inch touchscreen displays and four footswitches. Additional on-board tools include a 45-second looper, a chromatic tuner that supports seven-string guitars and alternate tunings, a headphone jack, and stereo outputs.
Connectivity options consist of USB-C for audio streaming and power, TRS 3.5mm MIDI jacks, and Send/Return loops for external pedals or four-cable method (4CM) setups. An integrated rechargeable battery delivers up to 4.5 hours of continuous operation, while built-in Wi-Fi handles firmware updates and Bluetooth streams audio from mobile devices.
Measuring 236.4 by 120.6 by 54.2 millimeters and weighing 850 grams, the NEURIG carries an initial Japanese retail price of 47,800 yen. That figure translates to roughly 1,515 Brazilian reais in direct currency conversion, excluding local taxes and import fees.
SessionZ App Uses AI for Configurations and Stems
The accompanying SessionZ Pedal application, available for Android and iOS, expands tone management and editing. The software features RIG AI, a utility that generates custom configurations from text prompts describing a desired sound or musical reference. The app also includes AI-powered stem separation to isolate vocals and individual instruments for practice sessions, while SessionZ Play lets users stream audio from YouTube or mobile devices via Bluetooth with hands-free control assigned to the hardware footswitches.
December 2026 Expansion Plans and Market Release
Zoom plans to roll out two additional software features in December 2026. The SessionZ Store will offer extra models created via the DNA Engine, while another function will allow users to plug physical amps and pedals into the NEURIG Send/Return loops to generate NAM A2 models through cloud analysis.
The hardware launch is scheduled for early November 2026, debuting in Japan. Zoom has not yet announced pricing details or a release timeline for international markets such as Brazil.
