Disney’s “zootopia 2” has substantially surpassed pre-holiday weekend projections, achieving remarkable success both domestically and internationally.
Domestic Performance
The five-day domestic forecast has been revised upwards to $155 million, with estimates potentially reaching $160 million. The Friday-Sunday portion of the opening weekend is projected to bring in $98-99 million, according to Deadline.
Notably, the original “Zootopia” required twelve days to reach $154 million domestically; the sequel is on track to achieve that milestone in less than half the time.
Global Success, Led by China
The worldwide box office haul is now anticipated to exceed $525 million, surpassing initial projections of $500 million by Sunday. This surge is largely attributed to the film’s performance in China.
On Saturday alone, “Zootopia 2″ grossed $104 million in China, marking the largest single-day haul for any Hollywood film, exceeding the previous record held by “Avengers: Endgame” Deadline reports.
Other releases
“Wicked: For good” earned $63.3 million over the three-day weekend and $93.5 million for the five-day period, experiencing a 57% drop in viewership from its opening weekend.
In limited release, netflix’s “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” is projected to earn $4 million from 600 screens over the five-day period, while “hamnet” is expected to take in $1.3 million from 119 screens.
