Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi says his future remains undecided, despite links to Arsenal, Real Madrid and Liverpool. The Spain international acknowledged interest from several clubs but emphasized his focus on the national team.
Arsenal has reportedly been working on a deal for Zubimendi for months, with some reports suggesting a medical was pending. “Of course there are options,” zubimendi told National Radio, “but it’s true that it looks like it’s going to be a different, long summer, and I don’t know how it’s going to end.”
Zubimendi dismissed reports of a secret medical in the United Kingdom, explaining that photos posted on his Instagram account showing him at a beach in San Sebastian were meant to counter those rumors.
While acknowledging that a move to Real Madrid is a possibility, Zubimendi admitted that new Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso is an idol. Alonso coached Zubimendi in Real Sociedad’s reserve team.
“I’ve always said that he was my idol and that for me it was a stroke of luck that he was able to coach me in the reserve team in a very crucial year,” Zubimendi said.
