Singer and actress IU (31, real name Lee Ji-eun) urgently changed the title of her new song as it became embroiled in controversy over a phrase supporting sexual minorities.

IU’s agency, Edam Entertainment, announced on the 19th, “The title of IU’s new song ‘Love Wins’, which is scheduled to be released at 6 PM on the 24th, will be changed to ‘Love Wins All’.”

Some claimed that ‘Love Wins’ had previously been used as a phrase to defend sexual minorities. Sexual minorities were concerned that IU’s use of this phrase could tarnish its meaning. As the controversy arose, IU quickly tried to resolve the issue by changing the title.

In relation to this, IU posted on Edam Entertainment’s social network service (SNS) on this day, “Some people say that this is an era of great hatred,” and “It certainly does not seem to be a time when love is prevalent.”

He continued by explaining, “It contains the story of people who try to love until the end in a world that prevents them from loving. Of this album, ‘Love Wins All’ is one of the songs I dedicate to the fans I love.”

Meanwhile, ‘Love Wins All’, which IU will release on the 24th, is a new song released about 2 years and 1 month after ‘Piece of Pieces’ released on December 29, 2021.

The following is IU’s full text.

Some say that this is an era of great hatred.

It certainly doesn’t seem like a time when love is prevalent.

In an increasingly gray world with palpable hostility and indifference,

Sometimes it feels absurd to hope for victory using invisible love as a weapon.

However, from what I have experienced first-hand, hate is always alone even when the momentum is good.

On the other hand, even though it runs away, breaks down, and fades away, love stays together forever.

Love has a good chance of winning.

It contains the stories of those who try to love until the end in a world that hinders love.

As a side note, this album, which contains five songs, has two songs dedicated to the people I love, especially my fans, and one of them is the song Love wins all.

From the age of 18, when I suddenly received great love and my life changed overnight, until now.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about what’s going to happen. I thought it was vaguely lonely, scary, and natural.

But after thinking about it like that every day for ten years, my attitude toward it changed little by little.

It’s not that scary now. I don’t think I will feel any more regretful or lonely at that moment.

Above all, it doesn’t seem that close.

The reason why I, a pessimistic and worried child, was able to change so much is probably because there were people who reassured me every day without getting tired over the past 10 years.

Thanks to them, when I think about it, I have never been alone for a single moment while living as IU.

To my diligent fans who have never left me alone.

I would like to say thank you for nurturing endless love in my heart, who is probably a naturally hard-working type.

Also, I still don’t know why, but I’m really grateful that he always chooses to be by my side.

Just as you were with me, I want to be a person who is with you in your rising and falling moments.

Next to him, “I’m not scared. I want to be the person who says, “Let’s go to sunset in the most beautiful way.”/

IU, who has been greatly loved by fans through songs such as ‘Secret’, ‘To the Name’, ‘Love Poem’, and ‘Child and My Sea’, is a ballad song with a definite momentum, starting with a minimal and vintage piano intro and ending with a maximalist outro. Continuing the Daegok Ballad series. Towards the end, the emotions are maximized by the vocals that swirl like a battle and the instrument composition reminiscent of a splendid symphony.

The rhythm that seems to be swimming in the sky and the harmony themes piled on top of it enhance the charm of the 6/8 time signature, and the strings that spread widely and gently embrace the entire sound add to the width and depth of the song.

If you follow the harmony of IU’s delicate vocal technique and wide-range melody, and the non-stop high pitch, you will soon reach the end and focus on IU’s last breath.
