Super Mario Galaxy Movie Box Office: Fifth Friday Earnings

The long-awaited sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 has made a dominant entrance at the North American box office, debuting at the No. 1 spot on its first day in theaters, May 1, 2026. The film, produced by 20th Century Studios and Disney, earned $32.5 million on Friday from 4,150 theaters.

Industry projections indicate the fashion-forward sequel is on track to earn between $75 million and $80 million by Sunday, May 3, 2026. Some analysts suggest the total could climb as high as $90 million over the opening weekend. Globally, the film is projected to reach a debut of approximately $180 million.

Return of the Original Cast

The sequel reunites the core cast of the 2006 original, with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci all reprising their iconic roles. The production also sees the return of director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna.

The narrative picks up nearly two decades after the first film, focusing on the professional evolution of the characters. In this installment, Miranda Priestly’s career faces a decline, forcing her to confront Emily, who has risen to become a major executive at a luxury group whose advertising revenue Miranda requires.

Joining the returning leads are new cast members including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, and Justin Theroux.
