President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is on a state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), visited the Bakara Nuclear Power Plant in the Al-Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on the 16th (local time) with the President of the United Arab Emirates United Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Baccarat nuclear power station is the first foreign nuclear power station that Korea won during the Lee Myung-bak administration in December 2009 and the first nuclear power station in the Middle East. Units 1 and 2 have been completed and commercial operation has begun, Unit 3 is ready for operation, and Unit 4 is due for completion next year.
When all four nuclear power plants are operational, they will be able to supply up to 25% of the UAE’s electricity demand.
