The three major stock indexes of the New York Stock Exchange closed down for the first time since the US presidential election as profit-taking sales emerged amid speculation that the ‘Trump rally’, which began with President-elect Donald Trump’s victory, has reached short-term overheating.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which consists mainly of blue-chip stocks, closed trading at 43,910.98, down 382.15 points, or 0.86 percentage points, from the previous day.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index closed at 5,983.99, down 17.36 points, or 0.29 percentage points, from the previous day, and the Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 19,281.40, down 17.36 points, or 0.09 percentage points, from the previous day.

This is the first time since the 4th that the three major stock indexes closed simultaneously, and the stock index, which had been rallying due to expectations for a second Trump administration, was adjusted in recognition of short-term overheating.

Elon Musk’s Tesla, which contributed significantly to Trump’s presidential election victory, also fell by more than 6%, resulting in a flood of profit-taking sales.
