More than 43,000 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported.

As the prevalence of Omicron mutation continues to decline, you will no longer need to wear a mask for most outdoor activities from Monday.

We will discuss more details with Professor Kim Jung-gi, College of Pharmacy, Korea University.

welcome.

<질문 1> As of 00:00 today (30th), the number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 was 43,286. It continues to decrease steadily. How do you see the current situation?

<질문 2> You do not need to wear a mask outdoors from 00:00 next Monday (2nd). However, you must wear a mask when attending a gathering of more than 50 people or watching a performance or sporting event. In addition, what is the standard for wearing a mask by location and situation?

<질문 3> I wondered if everyone would like it if they told me they didn’t have to wear a mask, but there are a lot of people who say ‘I will wear it for the time being’ despite the government’s outdoor mask removal policy. How do you view this phenomenon?

<질문 4> When the government announced the measures to lift outdoor masks, the reason was cited as the fact that the epidemic is declining and the medical response system is stable. Some are concerned that this measure is sending the wrong message. How do you see the professor?

<질문 5> The lifting of the outdoor mask requirement applies to everyone, whether vaccinated or not. However, since unvaccinated people and the elderly are at risk of COVID-19, it is strongly recommended to wear a mask. There is also an opinion that even an uninfected person who has never been infected with COVID-19 should wear a mask if possible?

<질문 6> In foreign countries, regulations on wearing masks indoors are also loosening. The United States, Germany and France decided last month that masks can be removed indoors except for public transportation, and Italy is showing similar movements. When do you think we will be able to take off our masks indoors?

<질문 7> The demand for overseas travel is also increasing. Self-quarantine after entry for those who have recently been vaccinated has been exempted. We are also considering replacing the PCR test before entering the country with a rapid antigen test. How do you see the possibility of a resurgence around July, the peak travel season?
