At a nursing hospital in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do, we reported yesterday that some patients were abused by their caregivers, such as verbal abuse and assault.

However, another patient testified that he felt threatened by the caregiver.

Currently, the caregiver has stopped working, and it is said that contact with the dispatching company has been cut off.

Reporter Yoo Seo-young was the sole reporter.

“Hey dog, even if that’s true, it’s cheap.”

“Hey, diapers here, eat them. Stay still XX”

This caregiver, a Chinese national, was in charge of five patients in the same room, including the victim.

However, there were testimonies that he felt threatened by the caregiver, among other patients besides the victim.

“When the caregiver tries to hit you, I pick up this. Yes. So, I record it or something like that… When (the caregiver) tries to say something, they just turn on my cell phone like this.”

There were even patients taking pictures or recordings with their cell phones to protect themselves.

The reporters were also able to hear the caregiver’s abusive language to another patient.

“Are you that great? XX like XX… XX, this is wrong”

It is said that the caregiver has left the hospital and has cut off contact with the dispatching company.

“I already ran away… He said he wasn’t working… (Contact) was cut off.”

There are 15 co-caregivers working in this hospital.

Although the number of nursing facilities is increasing, it is said that it is not easy to find domestic as well as foreign manpower as the supply and demand difficulties have worsened since the Corona crisis.

“With the outbreak of Corona, it is difficult to supply (caregiver) first, and so are our nurses…”

The hospital said the abuse seemed to have taken place when there were no medical staff, including nurses, and did not know in advance.

It is an explanation that it was not easy to recognize the daily abuse because there was no CCTV in the hospital room, but victims say that they should have taken action as there were reports of some patients.
