[단독] Prosecution seizes and searches lawmaker Hak-young Lee for ‘suspicion of solicitation for employment by the president of the sponsorship’

The prosecution, which is investigating suspected preferential employment at Korea Complex Logistics, an affiliate of CJ Group, launched a mandatory investigation after believing that Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Hak-young had asked for a job at Korea Complex Logistics, a close aide.

Prosecutors believe that during the tenure of former Gunpo Mayor Han Dae-hee, Lee recruited an aide who had served as chairman of the sponsoring company since 2012 to the complex logistics center through former Mayor Han Dae-hee’s chief of staff and an aide to Congressman Lee.

Lee’s sponsorship chairman resigned after his contract with the Korea Complex Logistics Center expired in December last year, but it is known that he has been working as an adviser for about a year and receiving money without going to work .

The 2nd Anti-Corruption Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office sent prosecutors and investigators to seize and search Lee’s home and the district office in Gunpo, Gyeonggi-do today.

On the 1st, the prosecution conducted a seizure and search of Gunpo City Hall, etc., and also searched and seized the home of the sponsoring chairman, and recently called the sponsoring chairman and completed the investigation.

Previously, in October 2021, Congressman Lee and former Mayor Han met with the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and requested the relocation of the complex logistics center in response to complaints from residents about traffic congestion.

Prosecutors suspect that they made requests for employment under the pretext of “relocating the complex logistics center,” and as soon as the analysis of the seized items is complete, the Congressman Lee and others are called in for investigation.
