Foreign media reported that Lake Oroville, California, which had dried up to the point of exposing the bottom due to extreme drought, is returning to its original state thanks to heavy rains and winter storms last winter. Recently, AFP reported several photos comparing photos from September 2019 and April 2023, when the bottom was exposed due to drought. In September 2021, the water dried up and the lake recovered, revealing the ugly bare land, the water level as a lie in the photo taken on April 16, 2023 and I found myself. The boats, which were unfortunately stuck in a pond that dried up in 2019, were floating on top of the swollen lake in April 2023 and ready to sail anywhere.

The recovery of Auroville and other California lakes is the result of atmospheric rivers that unexpectedly hit the area last winter. It is said that 31 major floods hit California last winter. This led to heavy rain and flooding in the region, and heavy snow in the Sierra Nemada Mountains.

Auroville Dam, the highest in the United States. The Auroville Dam reopened the floodgates on March 10th, which were closed due to drought in April 2019, and the water is flowing. It is not yet at the maximum level, but it is said to be preparing to melt the huge amount of accumulated snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains last winter. Climate change due to climate warming shows extreme differences in precipitation, such as droughts or floods.
