Introducing ‘Dakgangjeong’ and ‘Makgeolli will tell you’, a story that begins with food.
▶Dakgangjeong
The Netflix original series ‘Dakgangjeong’ is a new world comic mystery chase drama about father Seon-man (Ryu Seung-ryong), who is trying to bring back his daughter Min-ah (Kim Yoo-jung), who was turned into a chicken gangjeong after entering a mysterious machine, and Baekjoong (Ahn Jae-hong), who has a crush on her. Director Lee Byung-hun of the movie ‘Extreme Job’ and the drama ‘Melodrama’ will direct, reunite with Ryu Seung-ryong and Ahn Jae-hong, and special appearances by Kim Yu-jung and Jung Ho-yeon have been announced.
Director Lee Byung-hun’s unique rhythmic and witty lines and Ryu Seung-ryong’s acting, which has once again established a relationship with chickens following the movie Extreme Job Disney+ series Moving, are raising expectations. Also, since it is based on a webtoon of the same name, it is fun to compare the synchronization of how the original work was implemented in the drama.

▶Makgeolli will tell you
The movie ‘Makgeolli Will Tell You’ is about 11-year-old Dong-chun, who goes to numerous academies and asks questions about why he needs to go to academies, but gets no answers. He accidentally discovers makgeolli that speaks to him in Morse code and Farsi, and he meets Makgeolli. It is a story about communicating and going on a special adventure. ‘Makgeolli Will Tell You’ is a work that won the 2020 Gyeonggi Scenario Planning and Development Support Grand Prize and is director Kim Da-min’s debut feature film with unrivaled sensibility.
Actress Park Na-eun, who plays the main character ‘Dong-chun’, was born in 2012, and in 2022, when ‘Makgeolli Will Tell’ was filmed, she is the same age as ‘Dong-chun’ in the play and shows a more immersive performance. Park Hyo-joo, who plays Hye-jin, Dong-chun’s mother, and Kim Hee-won, who plays an S-loan graduate, also play unique characters. The film captivates the audience with its unique themes, from the setting of makgeolli talking to Morse code and Persian, that are developed smoothly. Although it is close to reality, it also adds science fiction imagination and asks questions to the audience.
