(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Dong-chan = Domestic and international reporters staying in the country to cover the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar suffered an ‘unexpected situation’ surrounded by football fans during the broadcast , and security issues emerged as a concern.

Jeong Yi-soo, who runs the YouTube channel ‘Lee Soo-nal’ and presents local World Cup news with KBS, was hit on the shoulder during a live broadcast of the World Cup on the 21st. He posted a video titled ‘The biggest broadcasting accident ever’ on his YouTube channel.

In this video, Jeong Yi-soo was preparing a report to convey the local atmosphere around the stadium before the opening match. At this time, men who appeared to be local supporters surrounded Mr. Jeong, singing songs, and putting their hands on his shoulders.

A man who appeared with a cigarette even deliberately bumped his shoulder as he passed around Jeong.

Jeong Yi-soo, who finished the report well despite the unexpected situation, said after the live broadcast camera was turned off, “I was very surprised. I was confused about what to do because they on my shoulder. It’s not easy.”

A television reporter from Argentina also lost his wallet during the broadcast.

British newspaper The Sun reported that Argentinian TV reporter Dominic Metzger lost his wallet after being surrounded by local fans during a broadcast.

The reporter said, “While interviewing the dancing fans, someone opened the zipper of his handbag and took out a wallet, etc.”

Metzger also expressed dissatisfaction with the response of the local police.

The police who received the report said, “We can catch the criminal because there are a number of surveillance cameras installed,” but he asked himself, “If you catch the criminal, what kind of punishment do you want?”

“I want my wallet to be found,” Metzger said. “I’m not in a position to decide on such a punishment.”
