[스포츠한국 김두연 기자] He’s nasty and ugly, but is there such a cute ‘villain’? Having an affair with his wife is basic, and it is inconclusive with endless lies, but the actor Kim Byeong-cheol (50), who played a fatal charm enough to hide all these weaknesses, created ‘Doctor Cha Jeong-sook ‘ as his new life work.

In the JTBC drama ‘Doctor Cha Jeong-sook’, Kim Byung-cheol played the role of Seo In-ho, the husband of Cha Jeong-suk (Uhm Jung-hwa) and professor of colorectal surgery. The seemingly peaceful family collapses when the secret of Seo In-ho, who had a long affair with his ex-lover Choi Seung-hee (Myung Se-bin), is revealed.

“The script was so interesting that I thought the work would do well, but I didn’t know it would be loved to this extent. Thank you and I feel so good. I have many nicknames from ‘Ha Man’ to ‘Cute Trash’. Although he is a negative character, I was surprised to see another side of him as cute. Of course, aside from the image, it’s true that Seo In-ho (Kim Byung-cheol) behaved badly, so I don’t want to defend him.”

However, the reason why Seo In-ho was loved in ‘Doctor Cha Jeong-suk’ was because he had his own narrative. As Kim Byeong-cheol said, it is undoubtedly a mistake that cannot be glorified, but Seo In-ho’s past lover was Choi Seung-hee, and Cha Jeong-suk, who stole Seo In-ho on at the time, was an adult and the situation was reversed.

“I don’t think Inho is a playboy. If you ask me if it is possible for him to have a relationship with a woman other than Seunghee, I don’t think so. Maybe because it was his first love, he wouldn’t have been affected. Personally, I’m more of an ‘average man’ than a ‘lower man’. The characteristic of middle-aged men is that they are inconspicuous.” (Laughs)

Kim Byeong-cheol also brought later stories about the actors who breathed together. As for Uhm Jung-hwa, who took their first breath as a couple, “We became close by calling each other by their names comfortably to create couple chemistry on set. He is a very positive and loving person,” she said. Because he is a person with great empathy, I was also influenced in a good way.”

Also, regarding Myung Se-bin, “I thought that Seung-hee was the most difficult character to act in this work. I have to convince the viewers,” he said. We communicated and had meetings every time.”

He continued to praise Min Woo-hyuk in a pleasant manner. Kim Byung-chul said, “I want to say that Min Woo-hyuk, who plays Roy, is a triumph of casting. For In-ho, Roy is a person who feels inferior just by looking at him, so it was good to immerse myself in acting.” Still, “That doesn’t mean my self-esteem as an actor is low. This work is an opportunity to expand the base, so I believe that a middle-aged romantic comedy by actor Kim Byung-cheol will be possible,” he expressed confidence.

With this work, favorable reviews poured in that Kim Byung-cheol’s comic acting was working once again. In the drama, In-ho expresses his feelings by tapping his laptop as if playing the piano along with a shoulder dance, or adding joy with funny body movements and facial expressions. Kim Byeong-cheol added that he himself has a desire for comic acting.

“I personally like comedy work. See it and work on it. I think I’m on the side of making use of my real experiences and melting them into my acting. For example, given the premise, when you fall, the impact is greater than when you fall, the body is expressed as stiff. Also, I really don’t enjoy drinking well, but I act drunk when I look back on the experience I was drinking.”

Kim Byung-chul, who made his debut on the theater stage in 2001, has quietly grown up to where he is today with his own acting. Now, through the plays ‘Goblin’, ‘SKY Castle’, ‘Mr.

“I’m so grateful to the viewers who loved ‘Doctor Cha Jeong-sook’, and I’m also thinking about what kind of work I should repay. Thank you for motivating me to do my next work, and I hope I can meet you with interesting works.”
