Kim Byung-man and Assault Allegations
Kim Byung-man, a known comedian, faces serious allegations from his ex-wife, referred to as Mr. A. In July, Mr. A filed a lawsuit against Kim for repeated assaults, claiming the incidents occurred from March 2010 to June 2019. He provided medical records for 20 incidents of assault.
Marriage and Divorce
Kim and Mr. A registered their marriage in 2011 and married in March 2012. They divorced in 2020 after a long period of separation. Mr. A characterized the divorce as sudden and unilateral. He disputed Kim’s statement that they had lived separately for 10 years, claiming Kim only stayed away for their daughter’s exam preparations.
Legal Proceedings and Claims
Kim’s legal representatives stated that the police investigation found no evidence of assault. They claimed the case was sent to the prosecution with a recommendation for no charges. Kim’s side also stated that he was abroad on the dates when Mr. A alleged assaults occurred. Additionally, they emphasized that Kim sought the divorce but faced resistance from Mr. A.
In the divorce proceedings, Mr. A sought damages for alleged assaults, but his claims were not accepted. Kim’s representatives argued that Mr. A managed all finances during their marriage. If property division occurs, Mr. A may owe Kim 2 billion won, including interest.
Financial Disputes
Kim’s representatives accused Mr. A of unlawfully taking assets worth 1 billion won, stating Kim had already won compensation for this issue. Furthermore, Kim claimed that Mr. A demanded he forfeit 3 billion won in exchange for custody of their daughter.
Current Status
Both parties maintain their positions, and the situation remains unresolved. More developments are expected as both sides continue their legal battles.
