[해명] The government has faithfully implemented what it negotiated with the Korea Cargo Workers Union in June about the safe fare system. – Press release | briefing room | news

◈ Transporters and workers have not met since June despite the agreement to continue promoting the safe fare system (November 24, Kyunghyang Shinmun)
Today’s Cargo Solidarity strike…the government and the ruling party threatened not to talk (11.24, Hankyoreh)

When the cargo union withdrew its collective transport refusal in June, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it would continue to promote*, including the extension of the current safe fare system, and discuss the expansion of items.

* Cargo Solidarity continued to demand the abolition of the sunset of the safe price system, but the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport found it difficult to accept and maintain the position of extending the sunset.

At that time, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also proposed the formation of a safe freight TF to the Korea Cargo Federation to discuss the future direction of the safe fare system, but the cargo union expressed a negative view on the formation of a TF with the government, saying that the secure price system was a legislative matter for the National Assembly.

Accordingly, the government has been continuously discussing the safe freight rate system through meetings with shippers, transport companies, and freight owners, and based on the results of the discussions, the sunset extension of the freight system safe for containers and cement reached through government-to-government consultations (November 22) However, it was decided that it would be difficult to expand items.

This is a faithful implementation of what was discussed with the Korea Cargo Federation in June, and the promise to abolish the sunset system and expand items unilaterally demanded by the Korea Cargo Federation is completely different from the truth .

The safe fare system was initially introduced to improve traffic safety, but as a result of the temporary implementation over the last three years, the safety improvement effect was not clear. In a situation where the effect is not known, the that item expansion is not appropriate.
