The Ministry of Public Health has reported that 15 Thai individuals have returned from Israel on the first flight, with four of them sustaining injuries during their stay. Among the injured, two individuals have suffered gunshot wounds to their leg and knee, necessitating the use of a wheelchair. Upon arrival at the Bamras Institute, comprehensive screenings for both physical and mental health will be conducted.

If it is not convenient for the returnees to stay at the institute, arrangements can be made for them to temporarily reside with their relatives. Furthermore, the Medical Contingency and Assistance Team (MCATT) has been prepared to provide continuous support to the injured individuals and their families within the local community.

On October 12, Dr. Thongchai Keeratihatthayakorn, Acting Director General of the Department of Disease Control, emphasized the importance of the preparations undertaken to ensure the well-being of the returnees. He explained that upon arrival at the quarantine center within the Bamrasnadura Institute of Infectious Diseases, comprehensive screenings will be conducted to assess their physical and mental health. The initial reports suggest that two Thai workers have been shot and injured, with their condition currently stable. If subsequent screening reveals no underlying health or psychological issues, the returnees will have the option to immediately return to their homes. However, for those unable or unwilling to do so, the detention center building at the Bamrasnadura Institute of Infectious Diseases will be made available for their temporary accommodation. Individuals with mental health concerns will undergo further evaluation, while the MCATT team will closely monitor their progress within the designated area.

The paramount concern at present revolves around the psychological well-being of the injured individuals and their families, as their physical health does not seem to be a major cause for worry. It is worth noting that the region of Israel from where they originated has not experienced any significant disease outbreaks.
