Mercedes-Benz predstavil model 190 v roku 1982 po šiestich rokoch vývoja. V histórii značky išlo doslova o revolúciu. Stodeväťdesiatkou sa totiž pôvodne noblesná stuttgartská značka pre lekárov, bankárov, priemyselníkov či právnikov rozhodla priblížiť menej solventnej klientele. A urobila dobre. Hoci mercedes-Benz nakoniec nebol rozhodne lacným autom, veď štartoval na cene 25 538 západonemeckých mariek a dokúpiť doň ste si museli prakticky všetko – od otáčkomera cez pravé spätné zrkadlo až po vyhrievané zadné okno - doslova katapultoval predaje nemeckej značky.

The Nürburgring Nordschleife, a 12.944-mile (20.832 km) circuit in germany, is widely considered the most challenging and demanding racetrack in the world. A fast lap time there is a significant benchmark for vehicle performance, testing handling, power, and driver skill. This record demonstrates Honda’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of front-wheel drive technology.
According to Honda,the record-setting lap was achieved with a production vehicle,driven by Jens Klingmann,a professional racing driver. The car used was equipped with street-legal tires – Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect – and maintained standard production specifications, excluding safety modifications required for track use.

This latest record marks the third time a Civic Type R has held the front-wheel drive title at the iconic circuit. The original 2017 record was verified by Sport Auto magazine, while the 2019 and 2024 records were independently verified by Honda.
