The medals for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games have been revealed. The medal included an iron piece of the Eiffel Tower, the symbol of Paris, France.
The Paris Olympic Organizing Committee unveiled the Olympic medal designed by French luxury jewelry brand CHAUMET on the 8th (local time).
The front of the Olympic medal is engraved with the image of Nike, the goddess of victory, with her wings spread in the center, soaring from the Panathenaic Stadium in Greece, in accordance with the regulations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In accordance with IOC regulations, the Acropolis is inscribed in the upper left corner, and the Olympic rings and Nike’s head are engraved with the official name of this competition.
The Eiffel Tower was engraved on the upper right corner of the medal to add personality, and a hexagon-shaped iron sculpture of the Eiffel Tower was placed on the back of the medal. Previously, the Eiffel Tower Management Association provided approximately 91 kg of iron pieces used in the Eiffel Tower, which were removed and stored during the Eiffel Tower renovation and repair process.
“Returning home with a medal also means taking home a piece of history,” said Martin Fourcard, chairman of the athletes’ committee. “I wanted the athletes to keep a little piece of France in their hearts.”
