The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) is investing in the future of the sport through its 2025 Mentorship Initiative, designed to cultivate the skills of coaches and match officials. This program, a cornerstone of the ITTF Development Plan, offers personalized guidance from seasoned international experts over five months. Participants engage in regular online sessions, complete monthly assignments, and may have opportunities for on-site learning.
The 2025 initiative emphasizes the crucial role of coaches and referees in the sport. High-achieving coaches could receive invitations to the ITTF Global Coaching Conference 2025. the most promising referees may be nominated to officiate at ITTF/WTT events internationally.
The 2024 ITTF Mentorship program saw participation from 31 individuals representing 26 member associations across four continents. The group included 17 match officials, encompassing young umpire candidates and referee evaluator trainees, along with 14 coaches specializing in both able-bodied and Para table tennis.
