Two qualifying pools were held: one in Taipei, featuring Chinese Taipei, Spain, Nicaragua, and South Africa, and another in Tucson, Arizona, with Colombia, China, Brazil, and Germany participating.
The qualifying tournaments proved to be fiercely competitive, with Colombia, Nicaragua, Brazil, and Chinese Taipei emerging victorious and securing their places in the main tournament. Brazil’s qualification is particularly noteworthy, marking their first appearance in the WBC since 2013.
Tournament Progression
Following the pool play stage, the quarterfinals will be split between Miami and Houston. Team USA Preparations
USA Baseball has already begun preparations for the tournament, announcing Michael Hill as the General Manager and Mark DeRosa as the Manager. DeRosa returns to lead Team USA after guiding the team to a silver medal in the 2023 WBC. The coaching staff has also been assembled, with nine assistant coaches joining DeRosa in the dugout.
