With the objective of providing a space to seek physical and mental health, as well as promote prevention, well -being and quality of life in the university community, particularly in new students, the Faculty of Medicine organized for the second time the Comprehensive Health Fair, in collaboration with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

Dr. Gabriela Borrayo Sánchez, General Secretary of the Faculty, stressed the importance of this fair as part of the welcome to the new generations of the Surgeon’s Bachelor’s degrees, Basic Biomedical Research, Physiotherapy, Neurosciences and Science of Human Nutrition: “We are very interested in their integral health, which we have built with a holistic approach that seeks to improve the quality of life of people and in this dimensions that compose it ”.
Also, Dr. Borrayo listed the preventive actions that were performed: affiliation to social security, vaccination, rapid HIV and hepatitis C tests, sexual orientation, promotion of mental health, as well as early identification of cardiovascular risk to prevent chronic diseases such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemias.
“What better occasion for people who venture to health areas to have integral health as a way of life, since they will undoubtedly transmit to their patients,” he said.
For her part, Dr. Verónica Orozco Uribe, head of medical benefits of the IMSS, expressed the emotion of returning to her soul mater and participating in an activity dedicated to prevention: “Today, the Mexican Institute of Social Security joins an effort to raise awareness about the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles. Prevention, without a doubt, is the key to health,” he said.
He also encouraged students to take advantage of activities, which include guidance in nutrition, mental health, dental health and preventive medical care, remembering that “health is a collective effort” and that when taking care of themselves they also protect the community.


Tour of health stations
The fair had 21 thematic stations that offered evaluations, advice and preventive services. Among them: Anthropometric evaluation with custom nutritional guidance by students of human nutrition sciences; Physiotherapy with postural evaluation and ergonomic recommendations; Mental Health Program (PROSAM), with interactive activities, appointment registration, and the presentation of Hikaru, the program of the program; blood pressure measurement, cardiovascular risk detection; Comprehensive Sexual Health Program (prosi) with information on contraceptive methods, prevention of sexually transmitted infections and link to specialized services.








Also: vaccination against hepatitis B, tetanus, diphtheria, measles and rubella; rapid HIV and hepatitis C tests; oral health, with orientation on correct brushing techniques and delivery of hygiene kits; Visual acuity, through Snellen tests, detecting not diagnosed cases of refractive problems; Mixed Oncodermatology and Clinical Sleep Units, which applied questionnaires and offered initial evaluations; early detection of osteoporosis; Affiliation and medical monitoring with the IMSS for channeling cases that require attention.




Each station had specialists, interns and students, who guided the attendees, applied tests and provided preventive information adapted to each case.
In addition, generation 2026 responded online the automated medical examination applied by the General Directorate of Health.
