3,000 confirmed for four days in a row… Tension ahead of ‘full school attendance’

Corona 19 is spreading rapidly again after entering a phased recovery of daily life.

The number of new confirmed cases surpassed 3,200, the third-highest number in history, and the number of severely severely ill patients also exceeded 500.

The government is speeding up booster vaccinations to prevent breakthrough infections.

Full-scale attendance of schools starting next week seems to be the new variable.

Today, 3,212 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded the 3,000 level for four days in a row.

It was the third highest number on record, 888 more than the number announced last Saturday.

The number of seriously ill patients also rose to the 500 level again in one day at 508, and 29 people died.

In particular, the number of cases of gastritis and the number of deaths among people over the age of 60 is increasing.

86% of patients with severe gastritis were over the age of 60, and out of 29 deaths, 27 were over the age of 60.

As the number of spare beds is rapidly decreasing in the metropolitan area, about 35% of the critically ill beds are empty nationwide.

Since only 21% of the metropolitan area remains, there are 659 people waiting to be assigned to hospital beds.

“Perhaps there is no factor that will reduce the number of patients. In other words, we expect the number of patients to increase. We will do our best to ensure that there are enough beds.”

Among the new confirmed cases, those over the age of 60 account for nearly 35%.

As most of the cases are breakthrough infections, the government plans to speed up such as completing booster vaccinations at nursing hospitals and facilities by next week.

The variable is the full school attendance of elementary, middle and high schools starting next Monday.

The number of confirmed cases under the age of 10 is still at 20% of the total, but since the vaccination rate is 12.8%, it is highly likely that the number of confirmed cases will increase as contacts increase.

“I’m in favor of going to school. There are no questions about quarantine rules or whether these things are being implemented well.”

With the US starting to vaccinate children aged 5 to 11 this month, the government plans to decide whether to approve the vaccine after carefully reviewing the results of safety studies.
