The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters (Bangdaebon) announced that as of 00:00 on the same day, the number of new confirmed cases increased by 3,292, bringing the total to 406,65.

This is the highest record in about 1 year and 10 months, or 668 days to be exact, since January 20, last year, when the first patient was reported in Korea.

This is the first time that the number of confirmed cases per day has reached 3,000 for two days in a row, 105 more than the previous day’s 3,187.

There were 772 more people than the 2,520 people on Wednesday of last week (11th as of the announcement date) a week ago.

As the number of confirmed cases increased significantly, the number of patients with severe cases exceeded 500 for two days in a row.

The total number of patients with severe gastritis on that day was 506. It is 16 fewer than the previous day’s 522, but it exceeded the 500 standard that the government initially suggested that it could respond stably.

As the number of confirmed cases among the elderly increases, the quarantine authorities believe that the rate of increase in the number of patients with severe cases is considerably faster than the increase in the total number of confirmed cases.

As the number of critically ill patients grows, the number of deaths continues to double.

The previous day, 29 people died from COVID-19. The cumulative number of deaths totaled 3,187, with an average fatality rate of 0.78%.

The route of infection of the new confirmed cases on this day was 3,272 local and 20 imported.

The number of new confirmed cases in the past week (11.12-18) is 2,368 → 2,324 → 2,418 → 2,5 → 2,124 → 3,187 → 3,292 per day. The average is about 2,531 people. Excluding cases imported from overseas, the average daily number of confirmed cases is about 2,514.

In particular, in Korea, the trend of proliferation centered on the metropolitan area is remarkable. A total of 2,583 people (78.9%) were confirmed, including 1,423 in Seoul, 965 in Gyeonggi, and 195 in Incheon.

This is the highest number recorded in the metropolitan area (2,545 people) recorded the previous day, and it is expected that the spread in the metropolitan area will continue in the future. In the case of Seoul, the second-largest number of confirmed cases was recorded on the previous day (16th) at 1,436, the highest number ever recorded.

Non-metropolitan areas: Gyeongnam 98, Busan 90, Chungnam 80, Daegu 73, Gangwon 61, Jeonbuk 54, Gyeongbuk 50, Jeonnam 40, Daejeon 36, Gwangju 34, Jeju 28, Chungbuk 26 , Sejong 10, Ulsan 9, and a total of 689 (21.1%).

The number of confirmed cases imported from abroad stood at 20, four fewer than the previous day (24).

Combining local outbreaks and overseas inflows (excluding quarantine), 2,591 people were in the metropolitan area, including 1,429 in Seoul, 967 in Gyeonggi, and 195 in Incheon. There were confirmed cases in all 17 cities and provinces across the country.

The number of confirmed cases is expected to increase further in the future, as both quarantine authorities and experts believe that a rapid increase in the number of confirmed cases is inevitable during the step-by-step recovery process.

On the previous day, the number of suspected patients tested at the screening clinic was 55,391, and the number of tests at the temporary screening center was 11749, resulting in a total of 166,140 tests the day before.

Meanwhile, according to the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, the completion rate of vaccination against the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Korea was 78.5% (cumulative 4312,386 people) as of 00:00 on the 18th. 90.7% of the population over the age of 18.

The primary vaccination rate is 82.0% of the total population (cumulative 42,11652 people), which is 93.1% based on the population over the age of 18.

As the case was confirmed, one from Gyeonggi Province on September 20 and one from Seoul on November 11, a total of two people were excluded from the cumulative number of confirmed cases.
