3,500 Police Deployed for Secure Jakarta Regional Election Campaign 2024

Jakarta Metro Police Prepare for Regional Election Security

The Jakarta Metro Police are mobilizing 3,500 personnel to ensure security during the Jakarta regional elections on Saturday, November 23, 2024. This effort is part of Operation Mantap Praja Jaya 2024, aimed at maintaining a safe and orderly election.

Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, the Chief of Public Relations, announced that personnel will be stationed at eight strategic locations around the election area. The grand campaign features three pairs of candidates:

• Ridwan Kamil and Suswono at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta
• Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardana at Waduk Pluit, North Jakarta
• Pramono Anung and Rano Karno at Madya Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium, Senayan, Central Jakarta

Police will enforce strict security measures to prevent disturbances during the campaign. Ade Ary stated that officers will operate humanely, adhering to standard procedures and refraining from using firearms.

He encouraged the public to participate actively in maintaining order throughout the campaign, emphasizing a proactive and preventive approach. The police aim to create a harmonious atmosphere as Jakarta engages in this democratic process.
