Men in the UK are being warned about the dangers of purchasing erectile dysfunction (ED) medication online, as authorities report a significant increase in the seizure of counterfeit and unlicensed pills. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) , announced that nearly 20 million illegally traded ED pills have been seized in the last five years, with over 4.4 million seized in alone. This equates to enough doses for three in every four adult men in the UK.

Many of the seized pills contain active ingredients such as sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil and avanafil – the same compounds found in legitimate ED medications. However, the illegal versions often have incorrect dosages, contain no active ingredient at all, or are contaminated with potentially toxic substances. This poses serious health risks, particularly for men with pre-existing conditions like heart disease or high blood pressure, or those taking other medications.
