440,000 new cases per day in the U.S. World record beyond India

With the rapid spread of Omicron, a mutant of COVID-19, the largest number of new cases per day in the United States has occurred.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of new confirmed cases reached 441,000 on the 27th local time, breaking the record for the highest number of confirmed cases in a day since the outbreak of the pandemic.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of new confirmed cases in the United States on that day reached 512,000.

This is a far greater number than the number of new confirmed cases in India of 412,000 recorded on May 6th in India.

However, there is a possibility that this figure may have been overestimated due to the delay of inspections during the Christmas holiday period and the closing of inspection offices.
