£50,000 Bail Secured: Zamalek Star Ahmed Fatuh Walks Free
Matruh Criminal Court Decides on Ahmed Fatuh’s Case
The Matruh Criminal Court has decided to stay the case of Ahmed Fatuh, a Zamalek club player, and will send him to a sentencing hearing on October 22. Fatuh has been released on £50,000 bail after being charged with running over a man on the North Coast and driving under the influence of drugs.
The court’s decision came after the second session of Fatuh’s trial, where he was accused of possessing a narcotic drug for consumption and accidentally running over the victim, Ahmed El-Said. The incident occurred while Fatuh was driving his car at high speed on one of the main roads in El Alamein on the north coast, exceeding the maximum speed limit.
During the session, Fatuh’s defense team requested a certificate from the Egyptian Fatwa House regarding the amount of blood money prescribed by law for murder. They also requested a certificate about the value of one kg of silver at the time of the accident from the Stamps and Weights Department. The defense team stated that payments have been made to the affected families.
The defense team also called for Fatuh’s release, citing that he is the only son of an old father and mother who has no family to support him. This would allow him to complete reconciliation with the victim’s family.
However, the victim’s family lawyer stated that the family refuses to reconcile with the legal blood money. The lawyer emphasized that the family’s refusal is due to the severity of the incident and the fact that the victim’s life cannot be replaced with money.
