6 new governors

New Delhi ∙ The President appointed 6 people including former Supreme Court Justice S. Abdul Nazir as Governors. 4 BJP leaders and ex-Army Lt. General also among them. Along with this, the governors of 7 states were also appointed.

Justice S., who was on the Supreme Court benches gave judgments in the Ayodhya cases, demonetisation and triple talaq cases. Abdul Nazir will be appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh within six weeks of his retirement. The opposition parties including the Congress came out against the appointment.

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, Ladakh Lt. Governor RK President Draupadi Murmu accepted the resignation of Mathur and others.

Meghalaya and Nagaland will go to polls this month. Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi’s term had come to an end. He was also in charge of Nagaland from 2021. CP Radhakrishnan, former Coimbatore MP, was the Kerala BJP chief. Kaivalya Patnaik was the commander of the Army’s Northern Command. Laxman Acharya is Uttar Pradesh MLC. Shivprasad Shukla is a former minister and UP BJP vice president. Gulab Chand Kataria, who is also the former home minister of the state, is the leader of the opposition in Rajasthan.
