National news channels interrupted regular programming this past Saturday to report on the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. The arrests followed a reported United States military intervention in Venezuela, with Maduro subsequently transferred to New York to face legal proceedings in the U.S. justice system.
Chilean Television Ratings During Coverage
According to data shared with The Fourth,Mega led the online television ratings during the extensive coverage of Maduro’s arrest. The channel substantially outperformed its competitors.
Mega opted to postpone the premiere of the new season of ”Only Friends” to prioritize continuous news coverage of the unfolding events. The episode is now scheduled to air on Saturday, January 10.
Between 6:00 AM and midnight, Mega averaged 536,918 viewers per minute, securing the top position in ratings for the day.
Chilevision followed in second place, with an average of 337,031 viewers per minute during the same period.Canal 13 came in third, averaging 265,288 viewers, while TVN trailed with an average of 187,562 viewers per minute.
