María Clauss and Óscar Toro: Victims of Aldamuz Train Accident

Nearly 40 people are dead⁤ and over 150 injured following the train accident in Aldamuz (Córdoba), a⁢ number‌ that ‌may rise⁢ as⁣ rescue efforts continue. Many families are still awaiting details about their ​loved ones. Huelva Hoy reports that journalist Óscar Toro and⁢ photographer María Clauss are ⁢among those missing. They were traveling on the Alvia train from Madrid to Huelva when it was struck by an Iryo train‌ traveling between Málaga and Madrid.

Shortly before 11:00 AM the day after the tragedy,Huelva city ​council member Gabriel Cruz expressed shock and disbelief upon learning of Toro and Clauss’s disappearance,describing them as “kind and generous” people. “A⁢ deep pain for the victims and ‌their ⁢families, for the friend who is⁣ gone.” ​Cruz recalled his lucky experiences ‍sharing “many moments of friendship and camaraderie”​ with Toro,⁤ both during Toro’s time as president of the ⁣Huelva journalists’ association and as a council member⁢ within the socialist group.
