10 Best Marvel Animated Movies Ranked by Letterboxd

While some general audiences may not ⁤know much about it, Marvel comics has actually had quiet a bit of a⁣ history in animated cinema. Weather it be a theatrical release or a straight-to-DVD film, Marvel ⁢Animation ⁣projects have been around for quite some time, ⁢and the‌ reviews for them⁢ have been pretty much all over⁢ the board. it’s⁢ always fun to ⁣look at the general thoughts everyone has on these projects.

The best spot to look for fan⁣ and ⁢general audience reviews is none othre than the ⁤social media platform known ‌as Letterboxd, where people can log and review the movies ⁣while seeing what ‌their friends are watching and⁤ reviewing. It’s the perfect place to see genuine and honest audience thoughts, as there’s not really ⁢a “critics” space on it, as sites like Rotten Tomatoes do. So… what do the people think of Marvel Animation‘s⁢ track record?

The Hulk vs. duology released by Marvel ⁢Animation ‍in 2009⁢ is widely beloved⁣ for not‍ only pitting some of marvel’s best against the one and only Hulk⁢ (Fred‌ Tatasciore), but for telling some really fun stories, too.⁢ Everyone loves⁢ a good ‍hero-on-hero fight, and the two Hulk vs. movies deliver on that‌ trope very well.‌ The first of the ⁤two puts the mighty God of Thunder, Thor (Matthew⁤ Wolf), ⁢against the ‍not-so-jolly green ‍giant⁢ in Hulk vs. thor.

While the animation lacks a bit in comparison to the other movie of the two, people generally‍ enjoyed Hulk vs.‌ thor for its brutal⁤ fights that pack quite ⁣the punch and an engaging⁣ plot, despite being a bit basic. Adambolt’s review of⁣ the movie on⁣ Letterboxd is also ‌communicated in a basic manner, but describes all of‌ these things very⁢ well: “Hulk and Thor‍ punch each other and also⁢ Loki is there”.

when the Ultimate Universe launched in Marvel Comics in the early 2000s,‍ it‍ took over ‍the comic book pop culture space. It was both beloved and controversial (depending on which series one was reading), so⁢ it was only inevitable for Marvel to capitalize on the fame and get ⁤some more ‌profit from it.When The ultimates ⁢(2002) came‍ out, it was pretty big, so⁢ this movie felt like⁤ it was going to come ‍eventually ‌- they attached “Avengers” to‌ the ‍title probably for ⁣publicity sake.

Some consider the comic book‌ to be a little controversial for the bold takes it had, and the movie actually got the chance to⁤ improve on what didn’t work for the book. Many ⁣note that it feels⁣ like the Marvel Cinematic Universe ⁣had even⁤ taken inspiration ‌ from it, due to⁢ some similarities⁢ eventually found in The Avengers ‌six years later⁢ – Heibon23 even states, ⁢”Very ⁤good, I like it ‍even more ⁢than its original ‌comic book counterpart and ⁣the MCU‌ movie” in their review. While it’s not the best movie ever, Ultimate Avengers: The Movie is still pretty entertaining ⁣and worth a watch⁤ for any Marvel fan.

its own animated project of the same name. Doctor Strange ‌ is praised for its tight plot, accurate and engaging retelling of the comic ⁢origin story, and the well-done animation (which had been a ‍topic of complaint with other Marvel⁤ animated movies at the time).

Coming soon after The ⁢Invincible Iron Man,⁣ which many found themselves disappointed ⁣with, Doctor strange was enjoyed‌ for upping the standards. ‌ Some even complain that the ⁤film was too short, wanting more from this ⁣iteration of Stephen Strange (Bryce Johnson). ⁣ While he never‌ got to make his comeback, he served ⁣as proof that the ⁤Sorcerer Supreme ⁣can do‌ well in film.
