Houston Dominates UCF, Extends Winning Streak to 17 at Home
HOUSTON – No. 8 Houston overpowered UCF 79-55 Wednesday night, continuing its impressive home form and securing its 11th consecutive 20-win season under coach Kelvin Sampson. The victory also marked the Cougars’ 11th straight win over the Knights.
Kingston Flemings led Houston with 18 points and six assists, while Chris Cenac Jr. Contributed a strong performance with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Milos Uzan added 12 points for the Cougars, who shot a remarkable 55% from the field despite struggling from beyond the arc, going just 3-for-19 on three-pointers.
The Cougars’ dominance was evident in the paint, where they outscored UCF 42-14. They also controlled the boards, finishing with a 40-29 rebounding advantage. Houston’s lead never fell below double digits after building a significant cushion in the first half.
Flemings and Cenac were particularly effective in the first half, combining for 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting as Houston built a 33-19 halftime lead. The duo finished the game shooting 15-of-25 from the field.
UCF, which had won its previous three games, struggled offensively, shooting just 31% from the field and 6-of-21 from three-point range. Riley Kugel led the Knights with nine points.
The game saw Houston go on an 18-5 run over an eight-minute span in the first half, extending their lead to 27-13 on a jumper by Cenac. UCF’s offense faltered during this stretch, shooting just 2-for-13 from the field.
The Knights’ loss came as they attempt to bolster their NCAA Tournament resume, falling to 2-3 against ranked opponents and 4-5 in Quad 1 games this season.
Houston’s win was their 17th straight at home and their 50th win in their last 51 home games. The Cougars are now 20-2 overall and 8-1 in Big 12 play.
