SIUE vs Missouri Doubles Tennis: Scores & Results

Mizzou Tennis Dominates in Home Doubleheader, Sweeping SLU and SIUE

, Columbia, Mo. – The University of Missouri women’s tennis team secured a pair of decisive victories at home, defeating Saint Louis University and SIUE by identical 7-0 scores in a doubleheader.

The Tigers opened the day against Saint Louis, quickly establishing control by winning the doubles point. Sophomore Zoe Lazar and freshman Lara Quaglia led the charge, sweeping their opponents 6-0. Sophomore Korina Roso and freshman Alex Ackman followed with a 6-2 victory. The doubles pairing of graduate student Mary Brumfield and senior Andrea Artimedi were leading 5-3 when their match went unfinished, according to the Mizzou Athletics website.

Missouri continued its strong performance into singles play, winning all six matches. Sophomore Gian Octa was the first to finish, dominating her opponent 6-0, 6-1. Ackman mirrored Octa’s performance, also achieving a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Roso secured a 6-2, 6-1 win, while Brumfield battled through a tiebreaker after splitting the first two sets. Lazar added another victory with a 6-2, 6-0 result, and Quaglia closed out the match, earning her first career singles win with a 6-3, 6-0 performance.

The momentum carried over into the second match against SIUE. Brumfield and Octa were the first to finish in doubles, winning 6-1. Lazar and Quaglia quickly followed with another 6-0 sweep. Roso and Ackman were ahead 5-1 when their match was left unfinished.

In singles play against SIUE, Octa continued her winning streak, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-2. Roso secured a hard-fought victory, winning 6-4, 6-4. Ackman added a 6-2, 6-4 win to the tally. Brumfield’s match went to a decisive third-set tiebreaker, which she won 10-7. Lazar and Quaglia both played to eight sets, winning 8-5 and 8-2 respectively.

The Tigers’ performance showcased a dominant display of tennis across all positions. The team’s ability to secure the doubles point in both matches proved crucial, setting the tone for success in singles play. The victories were particularly notable for the strong performances of the underclassmen, including Quaglia’s first career singles win.

Mizzou will now prepare to travel to Illinois next weekend, , to face DePaul and Illinois State. The team will look to continue its winning streak as it heads into a challenging road trip.
