Puebla Bar Shooting: 3 Dead, 8 Injured in Angelópolis Attack

Three Killed, Five Wounded in Shooting Near Puebla Nightclub

– A shooting outside a bar in the Angelópolis area of Puebla, Mexico, left three people dead and five others injured late Saturday night, according to reports from multiple Mexican news outlets.

The incident occurred near the ‘Despecho’ bar, with authorities responding to the scene shortly after 11:00 PM local time. Preliminary investigations suggest a targeted attack, though the motive remains unclear. The Puebla State Attorney General’s Office has launched a full investigation.

According to a statement released by the Secretariat of Public Security, authorities arrived to find multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel transported the wounded to nearby hospitals. The identities of the victims have not yet been officially released.

Witness accounts, as reported by El Universal, indicate that armed individuals opened fire on patrons outside the bar. La Jornada reported that the attackers used firearms, but details regarding the type of weapons used are still under investigation.

El Financiero reported that the victims included both men and women. The shooting prompted a significant police presence in the Angelópolis area, a popular entertainment district in Puebla.

The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents in the region. In November 2025, a fire deliberately set at the Lacoss Night Club in Puebla resulted in the deaths of five people – two female dancers and three male waiters – and nine others were rescued, according to reports from Mexico News Daily. Authorities at the time stated that witnesses reported four armed men arriving on motorbikes and using gasoline to ignite the blaze.

Earlier in 2025, in July, two young men were reportedly attacked by a group of six individuals identified as “cadeneros” (bouncers or security personnel) outside the ‘Las Rapichelas’ bar in Lomas de Angelópolis, San Andrés Cholula, Puebla. The incident, captured on video and widely circulated, involved the alleged victims being accused of harassment inside the bar before being assaulted upon leaving, as reported by TV Azteca.

In February 2025, a separate incident at the Mallet bar in the Isla de Angelópolis involved at least ten security guards allegedly attacking a father and son who requested the return of a mobile phone that had been confiscated, according to La Silla Rota.

The Puebla State Government has not yet released further details regarding the Saturday night shooting, but officials have assured the public that they are committed to bringing those responsible to justice. The investigation is ongoing.
