Señor Frogs Claim Victory in Crash-Marred Formula E Evo Sessions at Jeddah

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – – In a thrilling and at times chaotic event, Señor Frogs, led by Calfreezy and featuring driver Chip, emerged victorious from the Formula E Evo Sessions held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on Sunday. The one-day competition pitted ten influencers against each other in Formula E’s Gen3 Evo cars, culminating in a final showdown between Chip and Behzinga.

The Evo Sessions, a promotional event designed to engage a wider audience, saw eight content creators take to the track, with the format mirroring Formula E qualifying – drivers lapping for 15 minutes to secure a place in the duels and the final. The event followed two championship races held earlier on Sunday, adding to a busy day of motorsport action in Jeddah.

Qualifying Heats Set the Stage for Dramatic Duels

The opening session saw Behzinga, driving the DS PENSKE, set the fastest time with a lap of 1m27.984s. Juca, returning for another Evo Sessions appearance, secured second place for Quickstars, despite a spin. Chip followed closely in third, driving the Jaguar, with WILLNE in the Mahindra and ArthurTV in the other Jaguar rounding out the top five.

Emilia Hartford, a previous Evo Sessions winner, also returned, placing second fastest for Quickstars behind Juca. Izzy Hammond, driving the Lola, finished seventh, while Khaby Lame, Browney and Max Klymenko completed the lineup in eighth, ninth, and tenth respectively.

Quarterfinals and a Significant Crash

The quarterfinals saw Behzinga defeat Khaby Lame, while a significant incident involving Izzy Hammond brought out the red flags. Hammond suffered a 25g impact at the hairpin, but was thankfully able to walk away and was cleared by medical personnel. The crash also damaged JUCA’s car, impacting Quickstars’ chances.

In a strategic move, WILLNE conceded his run in the quarterfinals, ensuring that Chip would advance to face Behzinga in the final. Browney then defeated Max Klymenko in a duel for the “Wooden Spoon.”

Chip Edges Out Behzinga in a Nail-Biting Final

Behzinga set a blistering pace in the final, recording a time of 1m26.633s. Chip, however, rose to the challenge, finding the extra speed needed to beat Behzinga by a mere 0.4 seconds, securing the overall victory for Señor Frogs.

The win also secured the team prize for Señor Frogs, finishing with 18 points compared to Quickstars’ five. The victory caps off a successful weekend for Jaguar, with Mitch Evans securing a podium finish in the championship race and António Félix da Costa winning the Jeddah E-Prix on Saturday.

“This has been months in the making,” said Chip after the race. “So many moving parts, so many things going wrong in the buildup, and then it’s finally all come together. And I don’t think it could have gone any better really. Honestly, it’s been the best time ever. Even just stepping into the car, when I first accelerated out of like the final turn, I was like: ‘Oh my god, I’m never going to get to experience this ever again, so it’s probably one of the greatest days of my life!’ I’ve just now I’ve won and my team’s won with me, so I’ll struggle to match this. But I’ll tell my fiancé my wedding day will be better. Apparently, my mum was cutting vegetables in the living room so she could tune in. So, that’s class from her! I want to thank everyone for watching! It’s been a big weekend for Jaguar, too. Mitch [Evans] got a podium after starting 11th on Friday and Antonio [Felix da Costa] won it yesterday. Now Jaguar have also won the EVO Sessions – so it’s been a big weekend!”
