Fayette County Crash: Driver Killed on Route 982 in Bullskin Township

A 50-year-old man died Friday in a head-on crash in Bullskin Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. The victim has been identified as David Lancaster of Mount Pleasant.

The crash occurred around 4:00 p.m. On Route 982, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Troopers reported that a sedan, operated by Lancaster, crossed into the opposite lane while negotiating a curve in the roadway and collided head-on with another vehicle.

“A sedan operated by the deceased driver was negotiating a curve in the roadway when it crossed into the opposite lane and struck Unit 2 head-on,” said Trooper Kalee Barnhart of the Pennsylvania State Police.

The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash was not injured. Fayette County Coroner Bob Baker pronounced Lancaster dead at the scene.

The Fayette County Coroner’s office was called to the scene at approximately 3:58 p.m., according to dispatchers. Emergency crews responded to the 1500 block of Route 982.

State Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The initial investigation suggests the driver of the sedan attempted a turn near Route 31 before crossing into the oncoming lane.
